The region of Bahia on Google Maps
The photographic project, was born after reading the early novels of the writer Jorge Amado. In these novels, written in the 30's, the brazilian writer, son of a small landowner, recounted the golden era of cacao. Rinaldini, with a research work lasted more than one year and several trips to Brazil guest in the homes of laborers in the big plantations of cacao, recounted with images in black and white, the places and the people described by Amado in his books. The places are the lands in the south of Bahia state and the forests, are the rainforests that grows along the Atlantic coast while the characters are the laborers who live the same life of the past, using the same techniques of harvesting and, during the hours of rest, telling as 80 years ago, stories full of hard work, sweat, dreams and hopes. The photos are from the book "Cacao, on the trail of Jorge amado" editions Fabula. The photos are part of exhibitions displayed in Rome at the Embassy of Brazil, in Turin, Paris, Brasilia and Venice.
