Milos on Google Maps.
About 85 miles from the port of Piraeus (port of Athens), Milos is one of the major islands of the Western Cyclades. The island of Milos is part of a small archipelago constituded of smaller islands such as Kimolos, the only inhabited island, the uninhabited island of Poliegos with high rocky cliffs that plunge into the blue, Anti Milos, Mikri Akradia and Akrathio located less than one mile from the northern tip of Milos. Adamantas is the main port with fishermen's quays always occupied by boxes of fresh fish while the capital of the island is Plaka which is located high up in the mountains of Cape Kambanes peninsula. An holiday in Milos allows you to visit the characteristic fishing villages of Pollonia and Mandrakia. In this first part of the reportage on the island of Milos, we visit the western part of the island with small bays accessible only from the sea or walking along long paths that descend from the rocky coast. A journey between deserted beaches and small villages frequented by the "slow" tourism.
