Italy - Travel - Back to index

By: Carlo Piccinelli

Signols Alvorada on Google Maps.
It starts by crossing the Dora di Bardonecchia river. The dense woods surround 24 horsemen determined to reach the small Alpine village of Chateau. The trail climbs and goes up the mountain until it reaches the forest road, a dirt road that runs at about 1500 meters above sea level. Colors, parfums and the warm sun accompany the group of horses and riders along kilometers of alpine panoramas. In view of the village, a fun and restful lunch stop for humans and horses and then visit the ancient houses, partly restored, of the village of Chateau. Having seen fountains, murals and alpine architecture, you go down to the village of Beaulard with a short stop to water and coffee to the village campsite. The return to the Alvorada equestrian center of Signols is fun galloping in the plain interspersed with meadows and woods. A full day walk over 14 km long and over 400 meters in altitude between alpine landscapes and paths to be covered at a slow pace.
