Arrived from neighboring Colombia, the Embera population settles in the lagoon areas of central Panama in XVIII century and since then they live in rain forests, along the large and small rivers in the central eastern. Their life is based on fishing and gathering fruits and tubers that grow spontaneously in the forest. Their social life revolves around the tribe that lives in large communal huts hidden among the vegetation on the edge of rivers and lakes. Since 1960, the tribes are open to visiting foreigners, and today it is possible, during a journey to Panama, spend a few days in their communities. A fantastic journey to discover the forest but also among a population friendly and hospitable, eating "beda" and "pata" fish and potatoes cooked with vegetables. The canoe is the only means of transport and with it the Embera people, lead visitors to discover unspoilt nature formed by a dense forest interrupted by rivers that are lost in the trees and waterfalls of fresh water. A journey to the roots of Central American culture.
