Lanzarote on Google Maps.
One of the seven islands of the Canary archipelago, Lanzarote is famous for its volcanic parks such as Timanfaya still today with some active fumaroles. Arrecife, its capital, is a small fishing town today aimed at a tourism increasingly interested in the volcanic beauties of the island. Its volcanic history begins with the eruption of the Timanfaia volcano which took place in 1730 and since then there have been numerous lava flows that have covered the entire island with fertile lava. Today the fertile land is used in agriculture for the cultivation of vineyards. The stable climate with a constant temperature throughout the year has in recent decades become a destination for hiking tourism with marked trails for long treks and dirt roads to be covered by bicycle. The beautiful beaches such as that of Pappagaio in the south of the island or the nearby island of Graciosa, a destination for fishing enthusiasts, complete the tourist offers of the island. Typical dishes and the works of the artist César Manrique satisfy the cultural interests of even the most demanding tourists. A trip to Lanzarote is possible all year round for a dynamic holiday full of both artistic and natural ideas such as the interesting and rich botanical garden.
