Savoulx on Google Maps.
Savoulx, is a small town in the upper Susa valley not far from the ski resort of Bardonecchia and from the Frejus tunnel (connection with France). From Savoulx (1100 m), begins a path through the woods that reaches the ancient gypsum mines and talc (1470 m), actives until 1962. Two hours of walking from Savoulx to reach the old station of departure of the carriages of mineral that, thanks to a cable car, reached the Signols village. Today, remain visible only a few remains of the ancient mines and some rails used to transport downstream of the material but certainly the most interesting thing to see is the large main hall supported by three big columns of rock carved by the miners. A short but interesting journey through the mountains that saw the Turin Winter Olympics in 2006.
