Isle of Pines on Google Maps
The island is not very big, only 15 km per 13 km and is not far from Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia (62 ml) but surrounded by the big barrier reef, with a big forest of pines (Araucaria columnaris) and only 2000 inhabitants (Melanesian Kanaks), this island is a little paradise. Discovered by Captain James Cook in 1774, today Isle of Pines is one of the best islands in the world for nature, hospitality and tourist reception. With the ferry or by airplane from Noumea, the tourists arrive on the island to spend a few days in the forests of the interior, to visit the uninhabited islands in the lagoon or spend time relaxing on one of the many beautiful coral sand beaches. The large lagoon of crystal clear water and pine forests columnar, endemic of the island that are reflected in Oro Bay on the canals of the lagoon, are unforgettable images for those visiting the island.
