Pompei on Google Maps.
Vettii, Villa  House of the Vettii, opened to the public after extensive restoration work in 2023. Dating back to the 2nd century BC, it was owned by Aulus Vettius Convivia and Autos Vettius Restitutus, likely two brothers who were wine merchants. It is considered one of the richest villas in Pompei, boasting frescoes so well preserved that they appear incredibly modern. The primary colors are black, yellow, white, and the famous Pompeian red, a natural red ochre composed mostly of iron oxides. The frescoes depict mythological scenes and characters, while others are decorative, depicting animals and plants. Others, such as those depicting Roman triremes, are almost like chronicles of the time. These frescoes help scholars and archaeologists understand the history, culture, and customs of the citizens who lived in the city buried under ash and pumice following the disastrous eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The archaeological excavations of Pompei are constantly evolving with ever greater discoveries of a life buried by that terrible eruption, discoveries and finds that continue to amaze archaeologists who rediscover the intact life of an entire ancient city that existed over two thousand years ago.
