Reunion Island on Google Maps.
Located near Madagascar and not far from the island of Mauritius, the island of Reunion is part of the French overseas department. Occupied by French in the mid-seventeenth century, the island has always been a destination for migration by African, Chinese, Malaysian and Indian populations, creating a multi-ethnic population managed politically by French government. The island is characterized by the presence of the Piton de Neige volcano over three thousand meters high and one of the highest mountains of the Indian Ocean and of the active volcano called Piton de la Fournaise. The presence of volcanoes makes the mountainous island with a thin coastal strip and some beaches protected, on the western side, by coral reef. In this first part of the service about Reunion Island, we see aspects of social life such as the market, some seaside activities along the coast and different types of crops very important for the economy of the island such as pineapple and cane crops from sugar. An interesting journey on the island of the volcanoes, with creole traditions and cultures that mix with the French ones, creating a colorful and multicultural rocky island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. An adventurous journey to discover an island with wild, harsh and beautiful nature.
